Another bumper run in Ireland for me this time,up and down like a whores draws. The high point had to be a collection at a peat bog near Thurles, where they make smokeless peat briquettes. The man loading me told of how alsorts of stuff is found in the peat and preserved in pristine condition - that is until it is exposed to the air.

Isle of man ferry passing us

The crossing going over was fantastic other than I was on the Green boat where the food is not as good as the Seatruck boats but the cabins are far better.Behind us was the Isle of Man ferry hot on our heels and at the gas rigs it finaly passed us.

Setting offThe last bouy before the open sea

I went to the layby at Warrenpoint on Sunday to do my paperwork and chill out for a bit and found it hard to believe that this was once a Army checkpoint and a place where people lost thier lives during the troubles. There is a tribute on the fence to the soldiers who died and in the dust by the side of the road there are a few red poppies in full bloom. It is now used a lot by the Irish VOSA people to do roadside checks on HGV's . I had a test and passed with flying colours - much to my surprise as I had been working my nuts off and was sure that I may have run over a few minutes on a Cork run looking for a safe parking area. They know if you are running bent and as I have bugger all to hide I am sure that they can see at a glance if you are a chancer........

Downstream at the layby

The beauty of Carlingford Loch is ruined by the rubbish washed up on the shore, mainly plastic bottles and wood. The tide pushes this stuff up onto the beach in various places and it is up to a metre deep in places.

Rubbish

Castle at Littleton

These Castle/houses are all over Ireland and I was over the moon to get this close to one.I would love to find out more about them as they look like each one could tell a story.

Another farm delivery,I can get about three metres on grass until I start to skid around - yes Chris this is one of your lorrys on a field in the middle of nowhere....
