The crossing this time was cracking,a cabin to myself and more to the point on the MOONDANCE,the pride of the Seatruck fleet. The downside for this is that Bernard is on holiday for two weeks, and I have to say Iam like a lost duckling. After a shitty day it's nice to talk to someone who can relate to your problems, come up with solutions and put the whole thing into context.I seem to rush around like a blue arsed fly some days chasing my arse, only for him to look totaly non plused no matter what had happend (apart from the day he had to hand ball a full load of beds or something in Belfast)Also I wanted to show him my new fridge stuffed full of delights for the cooking.

Sally Gap Wicklow

Here we go a fantastic road in Ireland,Blessington to Wicklow via the SALLY GAP.It is a road that is a must for anybody with a motor bike rather than fat strokers like me with a 40ft trailer!I came close to grinding to a halt two times but got there in the end.At the top you greated by a huge lake that looks like something out of Austria rather than Ireland. There were two tourists walking back up the hill after visiting the lake, they told me that there was a photographer and a model doing a NUDE photo shoot on the shores of the lake,in my younger days I may of nipped down to check it out,but just the thought of me puffing and panting as I lugged my fat arse back up the hill put me off.Nice thought all the same.

There are even laybys at the top , a rare thing on Irish roads. The cows are in field near Kilkenny, the cow in the middle needs his head looking at if it thinks that to put its head in between two cow butts is a good idea.

I did Cork twice in the first week,The first run included Wicklow. You dont get a sense of how big Ireland is until you start to run around.I would say its like running from Garstang to Fishgaurd timewise, but on single track road with lots of bumps. The second run took me down to Kinsale near Timoleague again with its abbey and harbour. The place oused money from every house and boat,I would hate to come down here during the tourist season.

Again it's at time like this that I need a quality camera, you can just about get the sense of hight and awesome beauty of the Sally gap from this picture.

    Fushia

Another run down to Cork with farm stuff, that meant two things, tight drops with narrow roads and loads of cow shit in my cab.It did'nt bother me because it was in one of the most seanic parts of Ireland you will ever get to see.Cliffs, sea, bays and narrow roads. The Fushias are still in full bloom and are the mainstay of most Irish hedgerows.I also had to meet a bloke with a pallet of stuff at Cashel, now this town has the best Castle/abbey this side of Kicking Horse Pass.Sat high on a rock it looks out over the whole town.

A quick trip down to Charleville on Friday saw me in the most sureal moment of my trip so far.A Polish owner driver in a Irish plated left hand drive wagon pulled up next to me.He did'nt know how it worked at the drop I was at, and he did'nt have a grasp of English. Now normaly I don't have much time for people like this but this was different,he spoke French. He had lived and worked in Paris as a trucker with his brother for a number of years. We got talking and I gave him a 1664 to drink when he got home and he gave me a bottle of American Bourbon. He had worked in Italy for a few years so that came into the conversation. All in all an interesting meeting - A Pole and an Englishman, talking in French,in Ireland sat in German wagons drinking Italian coffee and exchanching American Bourbon - cool. There was a shower there at the drop and whilst waiting for my paper work I had a quick douche - it was bloody freezing and it felt like the water was getting pumped straight from a glacier in the alps somewhere, any who as I was getting out a big fat ,lard arsed Bulgarian driver was waiting to go in after me - 'Be carefull,it's very hot!' I tell him as I walk out.I bet he will never forget the nasty English driver who had used all the hot water - silly arse.

I have now found a WiFi point where I can upload the site in Warrenpoint,so the news can't get much fresher and also Jo and the girls can see what I get up to when I am over here.I spent the morning on Saturday picking my horses for the days racing whilst watching dawn break over Warrenpoint.Riverdance the other Seatruck ship was making her way into the port.
