Morf in the car We took both cars this year as we have so much stuff to take,Me,Morf and Emily went in the Volvo and Jo and the two little ones went in the blue car.

Are we there yet?

Morf in the car
Base camp The field that we call home for three weeks is all 'hook up' for caravans so we have had to go in the field by the shop. It's on a slope and I had my doubts, but as we were the only campers for the first week it has been fantastic.

We have set up both tents with the small two man tent being used as a larder and store room. That has made the big tent feel even bigger. The solar fairy lights light it up in the dark and we have got four solar globes around the guy ropes to stop people from tripping up in the dark.

We are down in the bottom corner so that should provide some protection against the wind.

It is the first time we have ever taken a dog on holiday, and as Mr Morf is still a bit of a puppy we were a bit worried as to how he would handle everything.Well he took well to driving and he also likes the idea of being outside all the time.He has stuck to us and not run off ,the only slight misshap was when he jumped up at a girl on the beach thinking it was Jessica. As yet we have not worn him out and his best game is chasing the cheeky Oyster Catchers on the sand.He will never catch one but he still thinks its fun. There will be an awful lot of pictures of him on here.
Young Mr Morf
The smell of wet dog,sea and sand just cant be beat. That is until he jumps on your sunburn and try liking your face with his rotten seaweed tongue. He thinks it's funny.

For this years trip we have brought along some goodies collected over last year, things we thought may well come in handy ,or things that look pretty cool. They have been bought at boot fairs or E-bay at a good price or in the case of the log basket at bargain shops as one off weekly specials. Here are some pictures of this years treats in action.
Camping treats Camping treats A flat pack camping oven by Coleman - how bloody cool is that.£35 off E-bay.I sold some crap to be able to buy this.We have had pizza and a whole roast chicken and it worked!!
Solar lights - 4 globes for out side around the guy ropes, and a string of 100 fairy lights to light up the inside of the tent. Both sets stay on all night.

Log Basket - £14 from Home Bargains in Liverpool. We saw one last year and had to have one.Look for drift wood in the morning - eat jacket potatoes at night keeping warm - kewl
cool rocks Its not all about the trappings of the consumer world though,we went on a walk down the beach and came across some rocks that someone had formed into a neat pile, they were so cool Jo and myself have set about creating our own to take back to Garstang.

Its not all about walks and gadgets this holiday, there is also the serious matter of fishing.I have brought every rod as we are going to go to Trevor as a family to fish one day.I have also brought along my boat road just in case along with the Penn big game reel - the only big game I will get to see is the giant Snakes and ladders we have - I have already broken one reel on my first outing, the rocks take it out of any tackle you take down there. So far as of Sunday of the first week I have caught just three fish. The tides and the weather are on the move so that should increase.
Beach fun Sprocker swiming
The Beach in full sun, with the dog bouncing around and the one above is of Jo and Emily not shouting at each other.
The tides are now well within my reach,I have waited and waited without any joy,I fished two tides all the way from low water without any joy.On Monday of the second week I struck lucky. As the tide was on the way out and the wind was blowing in a westerly direction I got my first shore caught Mackeral of the year and it was a cracker. This was followed by 3 more and 2 Pollock just for good luck.So 8 full days of good weather 5 fish all in all a good holiday.
Fresh fish Fresh fish
Emily guts and cleans all the fish I catch, then goes onto go through all the bits to see what the fish had been eating, and also see what part of the fish see can see.Shes not phased by any of it her sisters on the other hand hate it when Emily gets a knife in her hand.

The fish were cooked on the log basket in foil with a couple of spring onions and butter inside them and they were gorgeous.

Morf sitting and looking
We said we would do a lot of walking and we have,Emily has even come on some of them.
The weather turned on the 9th day,and the wind picked up.The tent is a bit on the flimsy side but took it well. The rain lashed down and we all had to take shelter. So it was an afternoon huddled up and trying to keep dry.We have been checking the 5 day forcast on the BBC wap site and its not looking good.We had put down an extra ground sheet so we should be alright.I have taken a short video of the rain from the inside of the tent.Click here to see it.

We still managed to have a quick trip to Porth Iago just down the coast to she Jos friend Helen the beach and cliffs there.

The first rains
Panorama of Porth Iago
Porth iago It was very windy and overcast when we went but the view was still fantastic, the waves were rolling from the top.It was then back to the campsite and yet another walk for Mr Morf.He is having a fantastic holiday and so far has been a very good hound. He dosent yap and bark or sneak into other peoples tents. The only problem was he knicked a girls bikini as she lay doing her back - Good call Morf.

Off to the beach
We find all kinds of crap on the beach, the wood is used on the log basket and we have gone through loads, the action man came back to the tent after the rain storm. He helped to make some of our stone pyramids, and also climbed up the tent.It made Jo chuckle so thats ok - the dog has his eyes on it now.

One last walk along the cliffs,Mr Morf had fun running up and down. All of the children from the campsite were down there and of course Jessica and Rebeccas friends.

We also had to look twice as we saw young Emily walking back up from the harbour with a young man in tow.

It was then off to pay our rent and start the the long journy home back to Garstang.
